Hello ...you are beloved and never forgotten! We were away on a pilgrimage for several weeks. As we heard cries to the Mother from a great number of souls who are suffering, we were moved to make this journey with their prayers in our hearts. In India we saw the faces of many who were in so much need, and many who were in so much accepting of life too. Some of us are often wondering, "why are things not working for me?" And "why is it that whatever I do, it doesn't seem to be right and doesn't work out? Yet others around me appear fine? Many who cause harm to others, even they appear to be fine and doing well? Why is it everyday I am praying for peace in the world, and yet the world seems to barely support me?" Let's take a step back and look at this for a moment. Much of this world wants little more than food, clothing, and a place to stay. We saw many like this in India. And if you could have seen the smiles on their faces when we would offer them some of these necessities. But how many of us could be like them? I'm not asking that you endure their hardship. What I am trying to put across is that if everyday we talk to the Divine within, our temple will be cleaned of those unwanted thoughts of "why me". Begin by appreciating how very much we do have: the breath within us that helps us to talk, to walk, and to take in the beautiful experience of our life and those we share it with. As we let go of thoughts of "why", let us also let go of any desire for things that others seem to have, be it money, or their spouse, or their position. We must not put sand in another's rice bowl. We can be helpful. But if we cannot be helpful, we should not be a burden to others by contributing our negativity. Instead, nurture patience. When you are patient, and continue to be, without any expectation, your account fills with positive karma. And your negative karma goes down. Remember that the Divine may permit negativities from time to time to help free us from our fears, while at the same time standing with us to confront them. The Divine may sometimes ask us to let go of things we hold dear. But letting go of these attachments actually makes room for that which the Divine wishes to give us. In the end, the negativities are not the truth. They are shadows. And when your gaze is directly at the light... there can be no shadows. No matter what we go through, only love is permanent. Nothing is appreciated when it comes too easily. We know this is true for us don't we? And in the end, the Divine does not forget to take care of us in ways we never imagined. Last but not least: always be in service to mankind--for it is there that we serve the Divine. We love you all a lot! We are with you always, With love, AMMA & SWAMIJI |
