|
Om Namashivaya Shivaya Nama Om to all the lovely and beautiful children of the Sathya Loga! In conjunction with Mahashivarathiri, we have been asked to conduct a sacred and powerful ceremony to enlist significant Divine energies to help bring healing and abundance to the planet at this time. The process will involve many beings from the inner realms and take many days and numerous fire ceremonies to complete. Mahashivarathiri is an auspicious time for this ceremony as it honors that aspect of the infinite Divine represented in large part by Lord Shiva. Who is Lord Shiva? While Brahma is the creator and Vishnu the protector, Shiva was known as the destroyer. Destroyer of what? He destroys our Ego, but also our troubles. He came as a Vaidya (doctor) in the form of Vaitheeswaran to help destroy disease and show the planet the way to health. He is also the father of the five elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Sky. And if not for the purity of all these five elements, creation would not function. This same Shiva energy is also in our Sahasra chakra where the serpent power from our kundalini (as the Shakthi) rises through our spine and travels all the way to the top to meet Shiva in our crown. In that union, we experience the great heights of consciousness. And from it, taste the Divine nectar. It is this experience within our own consciousness that is represented in temples as they perform the Kumbavisheka once every 12 years. The Shiva aspect was also the gateway for the Pratyangira aspect to come to us from the void. It was in another realm that Lord Shiva took the highest form as the ferocious Sarabeshwara (with a lion faced human body, two powerful wings and the legs of a fierce animal) to try and calm Lord Narasimha who had become out of control with anger after destroying a demonic Lord. Despite a thunderous battle, Sarabeshwara was unable to calm Narasimha. It was only when Sri Maha Pratyangira Devi came forth from Sarabeshwara's third eye, that Lord Narashimha was subdued and calmed by Her. With Vishnu, as with all of us, she balances the satva qualities with the maya (delusion) to return us to the Self. So just what is this aspect of the Divine are we honoring in the form of Shiva? In Kailash He is cold; in Thiruvanamalai He is of heat, so He can be one with the environment. He also gave half of His body to Shakthi, so he is part of both our masculine and our feminine. And at the core of it, He is in the deepest part of our very being, as He is also our breath, and known as 'So Ham, Ham Sa'. ...But beyond all these things that are said, He is in our hearts as passion and love. This February 16 is Mahahivarathiri and it will be a particularly potent time for clearing karma and negativities, even those from many births back. If one is able, one should fast from the eve till the next day, and conclude the fast with some Prasad offered to Lord Shiva. (If you cannot fast, you can just have fruits, milk and water.) The following mantra is good to recite during this time: Sri Bavaya Namaha Sri Sarvaya Namaha Sri Ruthraya Namaha Sri Pasupathayae Namaha Sri Ugraya Namaha Sri Mahatheyvaya Namaha Sri Beemaya Namaha Sri Eesanaya Namaha May all your karma and obstacles be cleared as much as heavenly possible on this Maha Shivarathiri! This is a beautiful opportunity, and not to be missed! Hara Hara Shiva Shiva Hara Hara Shiva Shiva Hara Hara Shiva Shiva Om Nama Shivaya In EKATVAM AMMA & SWAMIJI |
