2007 Year End Message
Dear Lights of the Universe,

This message comes to you to welcome in the new year of 2008.

Many wonderful experiences have come and gone, and there are many still to come. But we must be ready; now is not a time to sit and wait and watch life passing. It is time to be present with every moment we've been given, and to move forward and embrace fully all aspects of our lives.
For the past several years, many have experienced life as sweet, sour, bitter, hot and spicy (like the five elements). How many of us are now ready to accept and embrace each of these flavors as they come?  

If we run from them, they will continue to come, perhaps in a form we may not like. We have two options to choose from...

We can indulge the rich material life, generating more and more desires, and thus karmas, avoiding the opportunities to release the karmas we already have by laying them at the feet of the Mother to be burned in Her fires.  If so, we will keep coming back to clear our karmas and our debt.

Or... We can experience the material life, eating just a little of what we desire, blessing it, feeding it also to the Mother, and letting go of it. At the same time, going through life's scratches here and there. If we can do this, we can clear our karma and get a one way, no return ticket.

When we ask the Divine Mother in our prayers to be one with Her, She immediately starts helping us to clear the areas of our lives that are holding us separate. These are areas where we are dense with fear or desire; areas we call negativity. Naturally there will be rough weather when such things are cleared. The leaves of the tree need the dust shaken off, so they can be fed by the sunlight, and blossom.  Why else would the Mother allow the wind and the rain?

We can accept this as it comes or try to run from it. But if we can remember that the definition of suffering is resisting change, that the definition of stress is wishing to be somewhere we are not, and that the definition of peace is embracing the moment before us... this moment... right now... if we can do this, in this moment, we are free of suffering. In this moment we are in oneness with Mother and all things. This is the finish line where we hope to be.

If we cannot, we will fall into our belief that we are separate from Her. Then She will pick us up to start again. It all depends how long we want to take. At times we blame the Divine for what happens around us, and forget where, how, and what were the experiences that have carried us through the darkest times. Too often we want to remember only the difficult experiences. But remember that a Mother always wants what is best for Her children. It is Her who has held our hand through every experience, and carried us forward to this beautiful moment.

When we understand, embrace and love our self--the very Mother within us--we will no longer be hurt or disturbed by the things happening around us. The Divine is holding us and helping us always to move into this union with Her. This is Ekatvam.
