Swami Shanmuga and Amma Adi Sakthi are a husband and wife team working tirelessly to help people realize their true, Divine nature and lift consciousness throughout the world. They lead the lives of householders and serve through practicing and sharing the teachings of the Divine Mother and Mahavatar Babaji. By guiding and sharing powerful sadhanas (practices) from the Eastern tradition, they help a person uncover their own Divinity and clear obstacles in their path. Knowing that the Supreme Self sits inside each person, they share that following one's own heart blooms the highest Self.
Known fondly as Swamiji and Amma to many, they understand this to be a respective title but just as readily go by Shanmuga (or Sam) and Adi, their birth names. They carry the energy and consciousness of Sri Maha Pratyangira Devi, a very potent and powerful aspect of the Divine Mother. Mother Pratyangira is known as the Mother of Moksha (liberation). In leading Her devotees to liberation, she clears all their obstacles. Represented with a male lion head and a female human body, signifying the union of Shiva and Shakti, this Mother is known to devour the karmas of Her devotees, and take them on a fast track to salvation. She fills the cup of the person's unwanted or negative energy and helps to convert it to positive energy. Swamiji and Amma consider the Divine Mother as their supreme guru. They have been fortunate to be guided by liberated masters both astrally and in physical form. The great Mahavatar Babaji, who Swami and Amma consider as their Parama Guru, blesses them with his energy and visits and guides them to share a message of truth.
Both Swamiji and Amma have traveled difficult paths. Amma had a very abusive childhood and used to cry out to the Divine to come to her aid. The Divine would come in such powerful ways! Divine Mother Shakti energies would come sit in the physical body of Amma protecting her, confounding the people around her, including Amma herself. Separately, Swamiji was having similar experiences with the Shiva energies manifesting in him in subtle and powerful ways.
Swamiji and Amma started their careers in Singapore Air Force where they first met. The same energies that manifested in them separately brought them together for a complete union and fusion of the Shiva Shakti energies. As with most of us, they made their own choice of life partner, dating for some time before deciding to get married. As the years progressed, their experiences with the energies they were carrying deepened. In 1997 both had an open-eye Darshan of Sri Maha Pratyangira Devi, an extremely powerful and life-changing event. The Divine Mother herself revealed to them the mission of their life, which is to awaken the Divine Mother within people in the same powerful way as She awoke in Swami and Amma. The energy and consciousness of Mother Pratyangira finally merged and became one with them.
Living in this modern world with their two children, Swamiji and Amma face the same set of challenges as most of us. Life’s difficulties did not end even as they were having the experiences with the Divine energies; however they were able to face these situations with the strength and grace of the Divine Mother. Each challenge has taught them an invaluable lesson and taken them on life changing turns. Because they lead an average life and because of the difficulties they have faced, Swamiji and Amma are able to relate well and connect with people, seeing everyone as a spiritual brother or sister. Through this connection they are able to illuminate the spiritual path to the people whose hearts they touch. Down-to-earth and practical, Swami and Amma exude a wonderful lightness, yet their work is powerful and deep. They do not consider themselves "gurus" in the traditional sense of the word.
Through Mother Pratyangira and Mahavatar Babaji, they have realized their role as students of the heart and share the great Truths with all brothers and sisters that are open to receive it. Accepting the Divine Mother as their jivatman (their spirit) and the gift of this lifetime, they are humble and unassuming despite the great energy they carry within them, they humbly bow to the Divine Mother within each of us. Following their heart and living a life of Truth and compassion they are not part of any caste, creed or religion. They have chosen to share this energy with the world through the non-profit Ekatvam Foundation.
